19 of the Russian's 21 titles have been achieved on hard courts
A revitalized the Russian player won his maiden championship for 882 days with a win over Corentin Moutet in the tournament final.
The Russian, a ex- number one, has experienced a torrid year, winning just a single victory at the Grand Slams and undergoing a difficult moment at the US Open.
Medvedev's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serving in particular - led to him exiting of the top ten and finally parting ways with long-time coach Gilles Cervara.
Currently training with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has gradually progressed in the last few weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over challenger Moutet.
This marks his maiden trophy since the Italian tournament and first on a hardcourt since spring of that year.
Victory also signifies he has achieved 21 championships at 21 different competitions.
"It's the first time I'm at a competition with my children together, so to get a title is especially meaningful," stated tennis professional the champion.
"This championship is in tribute of my child Victoria, because the initial championship I achieved when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."
The tennis star, the former major winner, had been defeated in his last six title deciders, including in that event earlier this year.
The player's counter-punching strategy and recurring emotional displays on the tennis court had led observers to wonder if his capacity to compete at the elite level was over.
But the athlete has made changes in the past month, making an effort to approach the net and compete assertively, supported by an improved service.
He fought back from a break down in the opening set against the challenging Moutet, securing four of the concluding five exchanges to gain the advantage.
The pair exchanged service breaks in the middle set before Moutet, attempting for his maiden tour title, took control to create a third set.
The opponent rescued 4 early chances in a competitive final set before the champion broke to that score to serve for the match.
Suitably, he earned the win with a point at the front of the court, with the Frenchman incapable to manage a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
